U.S. Sand Sculpting Challenge & 3D Art Expo Sept 1-4
This will be the sixth year that one of the world’s most important sand-sculpting competitions will be held on this built-for-the-occasion beach, with over 300 tons of sand dumped on the pier on San Diego’s Big Bay.
San Diego Festival of Sail Sept 1-4
The Festival of Sail is the largest tall ship festival on the West Coast and is hosted at the Maritime Museum of San Diego, transforming the North Embarcadero over Labor Day weekend into a nautical theme park.
Bacon Fest Sept 2
San Diego Bacon Fest celebrates International Bacon Day. This all-inclusive feast features “baconclusive” bites prepared by local chefs and beverages from local breweries and distilleries.

Revolt Summer Surf Series: Ocean Beach Sept 9
he Revolt Summer Surf Series returns for its 11th season with the third leg of a four-event competition. Season 10 saw record turnouts and some great surfing by carvers from all over the globe.

San Diego Blues Festival Sept 9
The 7th Annual San Diego Blues Festival features Mavis Staples, California Honeydrops, Joe Louis Walker, Rick Estrin & the Nightcats, Chris James with Patrick Rynn & Aki Kumar, Missy, Mercedes & Sharifah, Leo Bud Welch, Blue Largo, and TJ & the Suitcase. The event includes local craft beer, food vendors, specialty cocktails, and wine, along with arts and crafts vendors. The Food Bank asks all attendees to bring two cans of food to donate.
South Bay Pride Art & Music Festival Sept 9
The 10th annual celebration of South Bay’s LGBTQ pride features music, dancing, artisans with food, vendors, and exhibitors.
Carlsbad Brewfest Sept 9
More than 24 craft brewers will come together at this year’s fourth annual event, sponsored by Harrah’s Resorts Southern California and SR76 Brewery. Music from local band OSS, “Oceanside Sound System,” and yard games will complement the fun offered by brewers’ booths.
Pizza & Beer Festival Sept 9
Unlimited tastings of pizza from some of the top restaurants and food trucks in Southern California as well as unlimited tastings of craft beer from local and regional breweries. Shop boutique vendors where you can purchase original art. With DJs, games, hand-rolled cigars.
Alley Art Festival Sept 10
The 4th annual Alley Art Festival features a puppet parade to kick off the day of events. Randall Art Ranch will be installing the fifth of a series of sculptures, a steampunk-themed Time Machine.
Heart & Stroke Walk Sept 16
Join the American Heart Association at Sixth & Laurel for the 26th Annual Heart & Stroke Walk. The celebration includes several local San Diego vendors, work-out demos, health screenings, entertainment, Subway sandwiches, and more. The expo opens at 6 am; the walk and festivities kick-off at 7 am. The Heart Walk designed to promote physical activity and heart-healthy living.
Cookie Con & Sweets Show Sept 16-17
It’s batter up when the San Diego Cookie Con & Sweets Show comes to the San Diego Convention Center. This baking and pastry convention has been called Comic Con for cookie lovers. You’ll encounter a weekend’s worth of celebrity guests from TV and YouTube, tastes and treats galore, swag for grabs.
Fall Home Garden Show Sept 22-24
The 28th-annual Fall Home/Garden Show features interior design and garden displays, remodeling inspiration, hands-on demonstrations, educational seminars, and one-stop shopping for everything pertaining to the home and garden.
PIFA Festival Sept 23-24
The Asian and Pacific Islander community in general has unique needs and strengths. The Pacific Islander Festival is the largest and longest running event attracting not only Pacific Islander communities, but Asian and other communities as well. We offer 2 days of fellowship, culture, entertainment, shopping, and food.
International Harvest Festival Sept 23-24
Two-day dance event hosted by the five international folk dance clubs belonging to the International Dance Association of San Diego County. Free dance lessons, dance performances, folk arts, and craft vendors plus food and beverages. A partner is not needed to participate in the dance lessons.
San Diego Restaurant Week Sept 1 – Oct 1
For one week only, over 180 restaurants will offer three-course prix-fixe dinner menus for $20, $30, $40, or $50 per person and/or two-course prix-fixe lunch menus for $10, $15, or $20 per person. The restaurants span across the county from the South Bay to East County and to the borders of Oceanside and Fallbrook to the North and touch on all cuisine types and cravings.
