Cinco de Mayo Trail Run May 6
The challenging and unique courses will take you out on the Lake Poway Trail through the foothills around the lake near Blue Sky Ecological Reserve. The 5K is designed to let you pick your pace. Enjoy it as an elite trail runner, as a challenging family run, or a morning nature hike. The 10K adds to this course with a gruelling out-and-back trek (or up-and-down if we’re being honest) into Blue Sky and a quad-burning +10% climb to the Ramona Dam. Benefits the Valley Elementary Educational Foundation.

Rhythm & Brews: Music and Craft Beer Festival May 6
Join your fellow craft beer aficionados in the heart of Vista Village at the San Diego Brewers Guild’s annual music and craft beer festival that celebrates San Diego’s world renowned brewing culture. You’ll have the opportunity to sample over 100 beers from over 50 of our county’s award-winning breweries, all while grooving to live musical performances and enjoying delicious eats from local food trucks.

San Diego Surf Film Festival May 10-13
6th annual event. Project Wildlife, PEAC, Cheyenne Arabians & Miniatures, Legalize Ferrets, and The San Diego Turtle and Tortoise Society will be in attendance. We will have everything from shells to scales and feathers to hoof stock. Enjoy raffles, music, snacks, and more. Info: 858-488-0658.

Gator By the Bay May 10-14
The event features four days of live music with over 90 musical acts on seven stages performing Cajun, zydeco, swing, jazz, blues, salsa, and country. Plus 10,000 pounds of crawfish trucked from Louisiana, Cajun and Creole cooking, cooking demos by Louisiana chefs, and lots of dancing with free lessons and huge wooden dance floors on the San Diego Bay. Performers include Marcia Ball, Geno Delafose & French Rockin’ Boogie, Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band, Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys, Igor Prado Band, and the Dennis Jones Band.

Chocolate Festival May 13
Spend the Saturday before Mother’s Day at San Diego Botanic Garden’s famous Chocolate Festival. Enjoy dozens of chocolate tastings, demonstrations, a chocolate fountain, and more. This family-friendly event also features lots of children’s activities and a variety of Mother’s Day gifts. Tasting tickets will be sold on site. Free with paid admission. Tasting tickets are a $1 for one tasting ticket. Vendors provide tasting items ranging from 1-3 tickets in most cases.

Springtime with Camels May 13-14 & 27-28
Spend a beautiful Spring day in San Diego’s back country! Come visit the famous Oasis Camel Dairy during our Open Farm and Show. Ride camels, meet friendly farm animals, be amazed by gorgeous performing birds in our 1:30 Animal Show. 40th Annual Spring Arts & Crafts Fair  May 13-14
A truly ALL-Artisan fair, where all the works are hand-crafted and sold by the artists and crafters themselves. Over 125 hand-picked vendors from across Southern California, with everything from handmade jewelry, soaps, paintings and sculpture, local honey, clothing, pottery, items for the home and garden and much more! Live music, a food court, free admission, parking and shuttle. Families welcome! Please no pets or outside food and beverage.

Santee Aloha 5K Fun Run & Walk May 13
Get your Hawaiian shirts and grass skirts and bring your entire family to participate in the 3rd Annual Santee Aloha 5K Fun Run & Walk.All ages and fitness levels welcome! There will be Hawaiian dancers, commemorative T-shirts, and medals for runners overall, by age, and for the best child and adult costumes! Participants will travel through scenic parts of the City of Santee, over several different terrains including the Walker Preserve Trail! A Community Fair will be at the finish line with refreshments, merchandise, youth and sports activity signups, hands-on crafts, booth activities for the kids, and lots more!

North Park Festival of the Arts May 20
This celebration of the historic North Park neighborhood attracts more than 40,000 attendees from around San Diego. The nine-square block festival will be held along University near 30th Street, which is packed full with entertainment and activities including art, a popular array of live music and dance performances, interactive experiences and artisan items for sale. This year  locally driven food and beverage vendors will also be spotlighted, including the Waypoint Craft Beer Block. Experience unlimited tasters from a selection of over 30 local craft brewers, several of which are ranked as the best new breweries in San Diego.

Taco Fest May 20
Featuring 30 of San Diego’s best taco-centric restaurants, a lineup of local and national concert acts, live Lucha Libre wrestling matches, a Chihuahua beauty pageant and race, and interactive experiences. San Diego Taco Fest is open to anyone ages 21 and up. In 2016, Taco Fest sold out and entertained more than 7000 fans who consumed more than 20,000 tacos in the one-day event.

San Diego Beach & Bay Half May 20
Kick off your summer with a fun, flat and scenic half marathon. Take a tour through some of San Diego’s most beautiful beaches, bays and resorts, followed by a festive bayside party with live music, beer garden, snacks, photo opportunities, and much more.

Vista Strawberry Festival May 28
The Strawberry Festival is an entertaining event for all your family and friends that is sure to create new memories. It is a free event to the public, so bring your family and friends and take part in the tradition of Vista! The festival will be held in Historic Downtown Vista, beginning with the early morning Strawberry runs. There are runs for children and all levels of adult runners. If running isn’t your thing, there will also be the Miss Strawberry Pageant, cooking contests, pie eating contests, costume contests, Strawberry Idol, local artists and much more.
