02Dash & Dine Gaslamp 5K      July 3
It’s a nighttime 5K run through the gaslamp quarter amid the beat of nightclub music and the wafting smells of fine dining. After the run, participating bars and restaurants await the runners with delicious local fare. 7-8pm. (619) 269-7047 / 

03University City 4th of July Celebration     July 4
The Independence Day celebration at Standley Park begins with a pancake breakfast and continues with music & dance, a bike & pet parade, photo scavenger hunt, field games, rock wall, merchandise, and a beer garden. The recreation center pool is open for swimming. 7am-9pm. (619) 987-1377

04Yankee Doodle Dinghy Parade    July 4

05Rancho Bernardo Spirit of the Fourth Festival     July 4

07Mira Mesa Community 4th of July Parade     July 4

08Encinitas Summer Sunday Concerts by the Sea     July 6 & 20, Aug. 3 & 17
Come enjoy the fun at the beautiful Moonlight Beach this summer! Remember that alcohol, glass, smoking and dogs are prohibited on beaches. All concerts are 3-5pm, right on the sand.

10World Championship Over-The-Line Tournament     July 12-13 & 19-20
This rough and tumble Southern California sport is a form of softball played on sand. Over 1,300 three-person teams play in different age divisions. 11Fiesta del Sol San Diego     July 12-13

12San Diego Night Market     July 12-13
Modeled after traditional night markets in Asia where vendors line the streets with their wares, there will be dozens of Asian food & merchandise booths, live musical entertainment, and a craft beer garden. 13Costume Party Run      July 13

15Del Mar Racing Season     July 17-Sept. 3

16Pride Block Party & Stonewall Rally     July 18-19
As a prelude to the upcoming LGBT Pride Parade & Festival events, an evening block party rally takes place that consists mostly of speeches. Music festival that is geared towards embracing Oceanside’s beach culture as well as various eco-friendly initiatives. Veteran reggae band, The Wailers, will be performing as headliner along with other local San Diego artists. 2-10pm. Junior Seau Pier Amphitheater.

18San Diego LGBT Pride Festival     July 19-20
In a rainbow of color, visitors can enjoy multiple stages of fantastic entertainment, food & drink. There’s a Garden with Pride Zone, Gaming Zone, Youth Zone, Kids Zone, wedding chapel, car show, dunk tank, rock wall, mechanical bull, and massage. 12-10pm. Balboa Park. 19Kaiser Permanente Bolt to the Q 5K & Kids Fun Run      July 20
Get ready for the football season by joining this 5K event where you can run with Charger players and staff. It’ll begin at Qualcomm Stadium and venture outside and then back into the Stadium to the 50-yard line inside the bowl. The Kids Fun Run takes place in the parking lot. 7:30-11am. (619) 599-6041 /

20Montgomery Waller Community Park Carnival     July 25-27

21Joggin’ For Frogmen 5K & Tadpole Trot      July 26
Come and join this 5K run/walk at Liberty Station in honor of Navy SEALS (Frogmen) and all military heroes who have sacrificed their lives while protecting our country; including the 31 heroes who were killed in a hilicopter crash in Afganistan. 22San Diego Surf Cup     July 26-31
This nationally recognized premier youth soccer tournament is one of the top two youth soccer tournaments in the nation. Participating teams (age 9-18) come from as many as 25 states and other countries such as Canada, Mexico, England, and Ireland to compete for the coveted Surf Cup Trophy. 8am-8pm.
